I use my inserts on my tracks in Cubase at the mixing stage. I will add a Portico EQ for instance on a track. Since I can't afford to have 16 of the Portico EQ's, freezing tracks is the one I am able to use the one EQ on numerous tracks. I will use a Portico EQ on the track. Freeze it ,a then I go to another track and use the same Portico EQ or compressor on another track. Hence the reason why we need the tracks to be able to be frozen.
