The only thing i don't get is what did you say at the part where it goes "I now...."
all I got was, "I now sidechain....of my pad and muted."
but I do understand that you sidechained the pad to the gate and muted the output of the gate. So that's why the pad went in and out, but the arpeggiation stayed the same.
Also, so all a gate is is that kick drum pattern? Which could actually be anything, a hi hat or snare pattern too, it doesn't matter cuz you have no output to it, right? But it seems from that explanation, that it's a gate even before you sidechain it, so technically I could call any kick drum pattern a gate, right?
