Not sure what a pad sound is exactly. I have an idea of what it sounds like though. Of course I can find it when I go through ES2 sound, but it doesn't tell you what a pad is exactly.
As for sidechain, I learned how to do it. I'm not sure what it is but at least I know how to do it. I take the ultrabeat and sidechain it to the ES2 and make a kick pattern on the ultrabeat, then the ES2 plays out in that pattern when I hold the note down on my keyboard.
A gate I think is the part where I use the kick to make the sound go in and out. Like it turns on & off, I think that is a gate. Not quite sure how it's different from arpeggiation though.
