I would much rather do attended mastering sessions than spend a couple of days on the phone trying to figure out why what the client sent does not sound the same way on their system as it does on mine only to find out the client has his speakers wired out of phase.

I really don't know where you are getting this anti attend policy but most mastering engineers I know have a pretty "open door" policy.
