I have a slightly different setup now but I had an AW4416 with 2 adat cards in it.. I had 1 of the cards ADAT lightpipes connected to and from a RME 9652 (that had adat ports) and it worked super great and stable. So with this setup I had 8 channels to and from my Mac to the AW4416. FWIW- the other AW4416 adat card was connected to a quality 8 channel RME 'ADI-8 DS' AD/DA converter. I loved the setup and the AW was a great router mixer to it all.
Recently I bought a new MacPro which has a different pci bus (pci-e vs pci-x that was in my old Mac) and so had to sell my RME 9652... I'm dragging my feet to buy a new interface for my Mac and in the mean time and using my mBox2 digital outs to the AW clocked by the ADI-8 DS... I'm considering options but 1 is to sell the AW4416 &/or the 'ADI-8 DS' (& might consider selling just 1 ADAT card) to purchase a new high end firewire interface so email me if you're interested. BTW- I live in LA CA.
