Shadow Hills Gama + What mics/compressor?

I use a Digi 002 (which i think i might be uprgrading. RADAR!) i have a 16 channel neve broadcast desk (not bad at all but not "neve" neve), a couple DBX 160a an RNC and some Art tube stuff. basically i have been looking to uprgrae. i need good pre's, one or two good compressors for tracking/ mixing, and maybe a couple really nice mics.
so after thinking long and hard i've decided that i should get the Shadow Hills Gama 8 (4 channel with st. ives option). under 400 a channel that's not bad. for the compressor i was thinking api 2500 and maybe a FATSO Jr. and for mics i was thinking a pair of charter oak SA438 or maybe the S600. i also wanted to get a pair of ribbons. which should i get? i lean towards vintage sounds (who doesn't) and do rock. you know acoustics, electrics, pianos, rhodes, drums. whatever. i like that whole rolling stones, bob dylan
will all this stuff complement well?
i respect people's opinions here so i wanted to hear what people thought of my decision.
my thinking is that later on i can ad some stuff like A-design, and API stuff.

i know i've been posting some similar threads so sorry if your sick of seeing the same question just kinda different over and over again.
