Agreeing with thrill -- the 9500 is the class of the Haflers --- but AFAIK, the 9500 is the "consumer -targeted" version of the 9505 ... the difference being balanced inputs on the 9505.
Should be in your price-range on the used market... and I wouldn't lose too much sleep about buying used.. no moving parts to speak of, and they're pretty durably built.
