Yes you would need JJOS1 before you could upgrade to OS2 and OS2XL.
I just wanted to learn one OS feature so I went straight for the OS2, you still could boot up in OS1 but it's no need since OS2 will do most OS1 and then some.
I also didn't need the extra features of OS2XL, so I went with OS2 and called it a day.
Now get the JJOS and go make some music my brotha....Lol.
