That's prof that he Double-Tracked rather then Mimed along to the playback(at least for those songs on the History Tour). The difference being...

Double-Tracking is when your microphone is on and your singing along with the playback(weather your mike is turned up or down).

Miming(or Lip-Syncing) is when your mike is completely off and/or you don't sing at all but just move your lips to your pre-recorded/album vocals.

Now even when Michael mimed, it was always his own voice. Not somebody else's behind the curtain(like Millie Vanellie).
