To achieve this, I personally like to make my kick super heavy, then simply use an automated HP filter to trim this weight through the intro beats & drop when the time is right.
On a separate related note, I
personally I find I get much better results from getting one great sample to start with, then EQing & comp'ing to taste... rather than layering several kicks.
