That is one way to do it, or go out and buy an interface that can support how ever many microphones you are using or use the direct port for the interface from the amps line out (headphone jack or left[looking at the back of amp directly] line out port). I used to use my parents old IBM 98 to record little stuff, and used the microphone port out of the headphone jack from the amp to the computer. I had it plugged into a switch so I could listen to the difference between hearing it through headphones and monitors to find difference so I could tweak the EQ.
