She's usually ok if I tell her I bought it to fix up and resell. I'll just have to see how long I can put off the "resell" part.
I have been eBaying off some of my (non-synth-related) junk recently so maybe that'll help with the approval factor.
That said, I have to really spoil her this Valentine's Day since the Pro One is expected to arrive on Monday... and it's a holiday too, so I'll be home!
Next time we move though, I want a house that has a room I can fill with synths.
