Maybe I'm just simple-minded, but listening to music gets me in the mood to make music. If I'm feeling short on gumption
, I often put on a favorite CD and just sit back and listen... after a bit I generally start to perk up.
And sometimes just having somebody talk me into picking up an instrument will do it.
