Thanks for the suggestions. I've been using an MPC for years, so I'm very familiar with filtering techniques but just didn't get that far. I will try the filtering and EQ the higher ranges and see if I can get out the frequencies that are bothering me at that point rather than before filtering like I have been trying. Not sure why I didn't think of this. Maybe it's cause I usually like to have my samples sounding the way I want before I start working with them, also I'm usually just filtering for bass lines. The difference in sound between my headphones and monitors really threw me off this time.

I'll try experimenting with the multipress as well. If I don't get it to my liking I'll just not use the sample.
