| dude you have to hear the track in a balanced room with proper monitors which you are familiar (how they translate) and then know how to use eq and compression on your individual tracks... distortion can help a kick cut through in the high frequencies too.. try multing the kick and high passing the mult adding distortion to it... or simply try parallel compressing the kick and adjusting the attack of the multed kick to let the attack (pop) and come through.. there are also other ways to generate bass with plugins.. for instance Rbass does this by adding low frequency harmonics.. there is no easy answer .
