| assuming you have a good monitoring setup->if not you won't be able to tell how much bass to leave in / take out
AND
assuming you chose good sounds (which you can only master with practice)
a good practical tip:
1. create and save a filter that cuts everything below 100hz. and paste it onto all of your tracks except your kick and bass. this will ensure that they are the only people invited to the "low-end" party if-you-will.
2. from there, find a eq analyzer to see which frequency(ies) your kick and bass are taking up and boost/cut the opposite. For example, if you have an 808-type kick which is down in the 60-80hz range and your bass is in 100-120hz range then cut 60-80hz in your bass track and 100-120hz in your kick track.
3. experiment with different eq's and you should be good.
