Actually for an 808 kind of sound on kick, our modded MK319 sounds awesome for that particular use. However its not as snappy as our Wolfgang or the Daisy (same as the Mutt, but with a Jensen, instead of a Cinemag and a Neumann K87 capsule) on out kick (SOUNDED SICK!).
Story what song did you wind up putting the Daisy on out kick?
BTW I have been messing with your drum clips that you posted up Story. Not for nothing but try a nice Fairchild 670 plugin on drums set to stun (~28db of gr) for that nice breakbeat sound that Philly Slick used as their reference. Try it in parallel or serial, both have cool results that remind me of the breakbeat they used! Drums sound DOPE!
Man we didn't get to try the subminis out enough! The Chihuahua Durango and the Doberman are rather sick mics!
What was cool is that when I got home and fired up my gear in Crumbson 12 Beta, the mics had a really nice vibe to them once I turned them on. I ran my mics thru the racked PM700 I had here, plus my Voicematics to see how the mics sounded with pretty fast but colored pres. DOPE.
I really preferred how the Chocolate Lab sounded through the Blue Robbie. Once I get back my modded DMP3, I'm gonna pair him up with the DMP3 and see how that fairs. I'm starting to really dig the cleaner pres for certain mics. Clean is a flavor!
Oh yeah just to let you know. The Chihuahua Durango will be using our new JJ12 capsule in it. I predict if you get your hands on one, you won't miss the tube 414 we brought with us!
Very soon I will post my own clips up!
Peace
