Definitely something weird going on in this regard.

If I have itunes open and my iPhone connected I cannot use any of my iLoks which are sitting in the USB ports - they wont be recognized by the apps and thus I cannot run my plugs. Closing iTunes and removing the iPhone is my only remedy.
