I gotta second the mesa recommendation. As a previous DC-5 owner, one of these babies will do you just fine. My old band mate used a dual rectifier and it's just sick. The preamp mentioned above would be ideal, because it'll have the most variety, and make recording super simple using impulse responses (if you're into that sort of thing with your computer... otherwise throw a 57 on your cab).
