Anyway, though not shown in the picture, I did attach some thin sturdy foam between the speaker and the top clamp. The sides are a very thight fit. I constructed them with only one thin piece of paper between speaker and the wood panels. Just enough to put he speaker in, once the stands were in place.
I'll think it over...Thanks for the advice though!
