I don't get this thread. If your vocal's quiet turn it up, or if you don't have headroom (which you should have!) turn other channels down. If your vocals are 'jumpy' use a compressor, native compressor of your DAW will do. I don't understand why people are suggesting buying a hardware compressor for such an basic task. Do you all work in a music store? Maybe I'm missing something?
