I've found it useful with just a little bit of drive and the blend set around 3 or 4. It may feel like you're not getting your money's worth because the compressor it barely triggering but the second you press bypass you want to turn it back on immediately. When I use it in this application I think of it as a transient shaver that also brings the low level energy of your mix up. I don't want to mislead anyone in saying that it sounds like analog tape but the added 2nd harmonic distortion feels very familiar. |
