| also a big fan of almost every voxengo plug i've demo'd or purchased.
one thing i really like about the approach is the ui's. while some may find them less spectacular visually - they are clearly designed around functional purpose and adventuring towards new possibilities. frankly while i have the uad-1 and all of it's stellar imitations, many times what i reach for is a voxengo plug for the uniqueness, flexibility and power to shape the sound. they have done a great job balancing the goal of capturing of vintage tone while seeking to open new doors of control that digital UI's enable. a great example is the curveEq - which i think is underated. this eq let's you draw the eq curve whith any # of points along a spline curve, and drag and pull points to shape the tone. beyond that it includes sound signatures of dozens of vintage sources that you can start from or overlay your curve. sometime after using the curveeq it's hard to go back to the typical parametric eq interface which seems crude in a way comparatively.
also re: the elephant.... make sure you are using the high quality mode - there are 2 main modes and one will provide more pristine clarity.
i haven't tried the new comp - which they just released - but imagine it will be excellent. if you watch this company - it's like watching progress - non-stop new tools inspired by a thorough interaction with customers. each plug goes through numerous iterations, improvements - direct responses to user comments. nope i am not in any way connected to voxengo - pretty sure it's mostly one guy. but i am a fan, because the dood is really delivering. and the price point is so utterly fair. |
