maybe you understood everything I was saying, but I'll try again and be as specific as possible. I have an MPC 3K connected to a Triton rack, so everything I'm about to say is based on my experiences with that particular setup. I assume it would be very similar for the Motif:

track 2 needs to be set to "drums" and the channel needs to be on the same "midi out" port as the one going into the Motif. And, of course, the Motif needs to be connected back into the MPC's "midi in."

assuming that pad bank A is full of your samples, you will need to use pad banks B, C, and D for the Motif. Each of those banks will have different notes from the Motif, but not necessarily in order. If you want to "tune" the pads with Motif sounds on them, then go to the midi-assign function on the MPC and manually tune each pad. You will be adjusting the midi note number (35-98) and tuning by ear.
