Are they better since they are in Hollywood? Is it worth the money to fly and get expensive hotel to do the mix in Hollywood? They are convinced that we can get the crew and 90% of the post done with Oklahoma Crew. He just for some reason is not budging on the final mix. So thanks for the recommendation and I hope to be working with Undertone in a few months. |
I see a recipe for disaster coming. I don't know your level of expertise mixing since you start out this post staying “So I am new to sound design". If I understand correctly, you do need to go to Minister's place. That way you can set up a consulting service with Tom to review your Sound Editorial at every stage. I really think that you should do the Sound Editorial and let Tom mix it. You will learn quite a bit that way. If you mix it then bring it to Tom, he might have one hand tied behind his back. Sensing that this is a big movie for you, and what the director is looking for (he is willing to go to Hollywood to mix) if this movie wants to get the best bang for the buck and a very good learning experience for you go to Ministers place. I have heard his work and it is good. Anyone who knows me realizes that I don't recommend a person unless they are good.
Tom is GOOD! Work together with him, hear your editorial on a dub stage and apply what you have learned on future products.
Your client will be MUCH HAPPIER that way!
