Remaking older MPCs wouldn't work because most newer producers are convinced that swing templates accurately emulate MPC swing and that various bitcrusher plug-ins do the same emulation. Older MPCs aren't that expensive to repair so there's no real reason for older users to buy anything new.
Akai needs a rock solid machine that has tight DAW integration otherwise I don't see the point in buying ANY new MPCs. If only they expanded on Akai.sys...
