I believe that everyhing changed with Numark's aquisition of Akai. I'm pretty sure that that's why we don't see the "true Akai legacy" products on the website nor in their support. I think their new (late 2009) controllers are nice, but their "hardware" leaves much to be desired. Long gone are the days of the Akai that many of us have grown to love.
Just my thoughts.
