One time i was faced with problem regarding MTC and SPP in a loop mode.
SPP really return cursor into loop start, MTC is not.

SPP generated in PT by default. Destination device will receive SPP once you switch it in "MIDI Clock" setup.
But i do not use looping as you mentioned, only arpegiators.
