Won't work. There's nothing holding the wool inside the frame now. It would just fall out and possibly tear up the fabric on it's way out of the frame.
Just cut out the 4 corners and the 2 notches in the middle and sandwich it all between the 2 frame rectangles.
Or: cut nothing off the wool, just make the frame a bit bigger and add some threads, tape or piano wire (i used chainlink fence to visualize better) to keep the wool from falling out the big opening. It will only make the whole thing a bit wider, but just by the thickness of your frame. You can use the free space to place your mounting system so you can attach it to the wall at a distance.
