Just cut out the 4 corners and 2 dents in the middle (as you already have) and don't bother cutting the long edges. You can just squish the wool between the two big frame rectangles. This will hold it in firmly and there will be some air between the wool and fabric, allowing for wrinkle-free upholstering. Otherwise, the wool can bulge in one direction, doesn't look that cool.
See the middle of this thread, that's exactly how it was done there and it looks stunning. This is how I'll be doing my traps, and superchunks for the corners.
