While you'd end up with the neatest panel construction I've seen to date
I'm pretty sure it's not worth the trouble, if it is even possible to do. I'm
sure you would not hear the difference in the amount of material.
Keep in mind that panels should be spaced away from the wall so you
don't gain much from squeezing the frame smaller.
