Agreed. 184 was actually one of my favorites for a Taylor 814. Placement counts., and so does the player. The 737 also has a killer EQ and I found I pulled back a bit of the high mids if it was too bright. A quality compressor also never hurt anyone in this situation. The 184 is a bit brittle at times (depending on the source) but I love them for overheads, hi-hat and piano.
