I too have the Avalon as my ONLY pre here for vox and acoustic guitar
I tried that combo here with my Taylor and it just sounded blah to me. No life
The mic is just there and it takes EQ well but as far as making my Taylor sound like gold, NO. I have a 314CE which I think is a brighter acoustic so I thought that mic would tame it some what. I wouldnt buy that mic but thats just me. I think a Shure SM81 would sound better that the KM184. Its overpriced IMO.
I would opt for an AKGC451B myself. Just depends what style of music your doing really.
