Good quality Hi-Fi subwoofer in Protools project/edit studio?

Hi guys,

Do some of you have experience with the use of a good quality consumer subwoofer in a studio environment?

I might be able to get my hands on a reatively cheap B&W ASW-650 12" subwoofer. It's specs and reviews are pretty darn good for the asking price (it's used, but appearantly in good condition). It's a sealed box, which is a selling point in my eyes. It's known as "unobtrusive", in that it's precise, delivers low distortion and doesn't rattle the windows, unless you ask for it. It's said to only deliver really tightly controlled, deep low bass, even at low listening levels.

That, and concidering the fact that I plan to use it only in the sub 50Hz range, might make it a really good option, since I don't need excessice SPL's. I plan on using it with either ADAM A7's or P11a's, or Dynaudio BM6a mkI's.

The downside is, that is has no XLR in- or outputs (RCA-in only), so I'll need something like an active cross-over, or a monitor controller with a secondary output in parallel or a dedicated subwoofer output.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

James.
