Are you using a AES/EBU to SPDIF cable or a converter??? You need a converter not just a adapted cable. Something like: Hosa Technology | CDL-313 Data Link | CDL-313 | B&H Photo Video or similar.

Are you going 96k or 48k? The digi cannot accept 96k, 48k max. That is most likely the issue.
