I like movies. Anything really. I will go see them. But if a local kid who makes films in his backyard corrected me because I didn't watch obscure movies like him, I would ignore it. I would feel bad that his is that lonely and finds joy in pointing that out to people.

I bet that same kid would go on a forum the next day to talk about how he set me straight and how ignorant I was about movies.

But if you said you liked any kind of movie and then it turned out you'd never heard of Hitchcock and the last film you paid to see was Die Hard 8, he might have a point.
