Get an Alphalink. You will not be disappointed.
I recently sold all my Apogees (AD/DA 16X's and DA16's) and went with 2 alphalinks with a RME Madi card. Works great, this setup is highly recommended.
The sound of the Alphalinks to me is a bit cleaner. High end is clear and low end is tight, no surprises. The routing on the boxes is very flexible... and i pocketed a couple thousand $
