Its going to help a bit (in the mids through highs) but its not going to help anymore than adding a single 4" thick 2x4 703 trap. A single 4" 703 trap would cost way less than a couch so I would say get a couch for comfort and aesthetics and if you need more bass trapping double up those 2 inch thick traps to 4 inch thick traps.
