| Yeah, Digi is stopping support for some things and I don't know what they are yet, but PT 8 runs on Leopard. I don't think any of it is supported on Snow Leopard yet, which you can't run anyway on PPC.
But if you want to use Pro Tools, get into the habit of making it the highest priority of your computer. Don't change anything- I mean anything- without making sure it is sanctioned by Digidesign.
But, frankly, you've had a little taste of what it will be like, why not just go with another DAW, all of which handle things like this better. An X.X.01 OS update isn't an issue for any of the other ones. I found it astounding that I couldn't run Pro Tools 7.4 on Mac OS 10.5.8, but I could run it on 10.5.7. Guess what the solution was? Buying Pro Tools 8. Which then later doesn't run on Snow Leopard, well, it does, but not 8.01, only 8, and that's buggy and not supported and... Christ, give me a break. I use Logic, and Digital Performer, and Final Cut, and Ableton, and none of these have these issues.
The arrogance of Avid and Digidesign is astonishing. |
