I am also looking for a converter with lots of i/o. MOTU 24 i/o is one choice. I guess one good question is what you are going to connect? If it is outboard, a mixer etc. then almost any converter is ok regarding the levels but if it is synthesizers or other unbalanced equipment, then the motu has an advantage because it supports both -10dBV and +4dBu operation. Very few of the high end converters support unbalanced -10dBV operation directly and the result can be very low signal levels if you connect synths or some other older unbalanced gear directly.
