You can use any of the Leopard OS's, that is, any of the 10.5 releases. Snow Leopard is only Intel Macs, it is the 10.6.

So you could upgrade to Leopard and still keep Pro Tools 8 by moving to 10.5.8. You could probably find a cheap copy of Leopard out there now, you'd probably be out $30 or so.

As far as installing one operating system over another, I've heard it can potentially cause problems, but I've done it four times now and had no issues whatsoever. But I want you to be apprised of what the situation is, so you can read up and make a decision.

Otherwise, you can move to another DAW, or stay with PT 7. Whatever you decide, good luck with it.
