The U89i shines on background vocals, especially when using multiple tracks or layers of them. Also when there is background noise in the room, it is less sensitive to it while still providing usable tracks.

It's a great, easy to use all round mic, and I often leave one set up in the control room ready to go for miscellaneous and spur of the moment sources.
