I had the same problem with MacBookPro "17.

Laptop should have air, so better isolate the mic and the place where the mic stand is, instead of silencing the laptop with boxes, blankets and whatever there is.

Main thing:
if you use LDC condenser mic, you most probably WILL hear the noise.
If you have a SDC, then perhaps only some hissing will be audible.
Best if you used a dynamic or ribbon mic, then you'll probably hear no noise.


A second monitor (I have a 24" and planning to get 30") is a must-have, I can't imagine working on complicated sessions with only laptop's screen.
