The dongle for Logic was ditched when Apple took over as they have a dongle already. With windows support dropped, they now have the ultimate dongle. You don't use their software without buying their computers, which are their real profit with software being made to entice people into buying and depending on their hardware/dongle.
Same with the itunes store. Sell the music for dirt cheap to profit form the ipod and iphone dongles.
Unfortunately most software companies cannot provide a computer and operating system.
