So far I've used them mostly on mixing lots on 2 bus and they sound great. They have basically been one of the comps in my mastering chain but I think i'll start using them more on other things. I just calibrated my outputs of my digi 192 and since it was so off it was stopping me from using lots of outboard during mixdowns. The meters take a little getting used to especially during tracking of vocals as they sometimes look as if there is no compression and then they hit really hard so you have to find a good sweet spot. I've also got CL1B's and those are mostly what i use during tracking of vocals. I haven't used the Vac Rac so I can't say how they sound in comparison, but as far as i have been told and understand they are exactly the same with different solid state make up gain rather than tube.
