But if you can make a unit that sounds as good (or maybe better) with xBA6 tubes for a fraction of the cost, and you can match tube pairs to get a very low rejection rate (instead of tossing a whole tube because the two halves don't match right), why wouldn't you just do it? Although the equipment I design does not require matching or component selection, I can very easily understand why there would be a reluctance to change something that's in production, works, sounds good, and offers a manufacturing advantage.
