| A few questions, Mixer-related.
I have a few questions about some gear we want to purchase. We're looking for compact mixer that has USB 2.0 or Firewire that will allow us to multitrack record (max we'd use is 5). Our budget is $500 and we'd be willing to purchase used, but we're looking for shipping within Canada or local purchase. Our biggest challenge here is: digital interface vs. compact mixer.
I know that with the Mbox and ProTools series, you can mix recorded audio using the physical mixer. We're not 100% if we can do this too with, say for example, with the Alesis Multimix 8 (usb 2 or firewire).
We were going to buy the Allen and Health ZED 14 but that only records stereo. We're looking to isolate our tracks in recording. Because it is radio, we want to isolate each voice for censorship and other purposes.
Does anyone have any suggestions that will match our needs? Once again:
-Firewire or USB
-4-5 XLR Inputs
-Compact Mixer vs. Interface
-Multitrack (4-5 tracks at a time)
-Budget : $500.00
We can go over the budget if need be, but it has to be justified.
