Actually a piece of Marshall or Fender grillcloth isn't that much. Maybe $30 for a panel. That'd be about another $15 more than using a decent material per trap.
At any rate, since it makes my studio sound about $25,000 better, it's kinda a moot point.
That said, I've got a piece of Vox grillcloth that was about twice that price. And of course, generic grillcloth basically costs less than the gas it takes to go pick it up in town!
I wished I had bought larger "logos", but what the hey. Most singer/musicians that record here don't know squat about gtr amps!
They're more "wowed" by the groovey shock mounts and pop screens on their vocal mics.
