In order of favorite to least (judged on imaging, dynamic range, headroom etc)

1. Pro Tools HD
2. Cubase 5
3. Record
4. Pro Tools LE

I suggest you all try a test for your self. It was a dramatic difference. Record Is a good program for the $$$. But is NOT, (to me) worth all the hype people make it out to be. Again.. great for the price, though.
BRO i did something similar as you did but with just logic audio i record into record
then did export and a bounce to a stereo track and i did it with logic
I did did a setup using record as channel strip in logic just to hear the difference.
i also run a mastered song in it and then bounce it
i am pretty amaze by the quality it sound bright and fuller to me especially when you bounce not export
the only draw back is the setting up of sub mixes you have to do too much wire-ring at the back need to be more straight forward like logic or other daw i don't know if that how the ssl works but it could be a pain
but i do setup templates.
