Well you´re correct...but it does not have to cheap "warmth" for poor people..think of some of the original NEVE circuits...they add some of the same transformer distortions as transformers would do today ..but at an much higher price level!!
I doubt you´ll see the tube circuit in the unit talked about having any trouble with X-over distortions ;-)..I belive its a 12ax7 in there..most if not all 12ax7 tubes have high distortions...with carefull circuit design they can be controlled to be mainly 2nd ...even with unregulated psu and absence of any CCS´s etc...
I think I might go buy one of them units just to see *S*
